Why

Build?

An Enhanced Gospel Outpost

Since our earliest days, Church on Mill has sought to be a gospel outpost in downtown Tempe. By God’s grace, we are! And we now need a permanent space with more room to send. A place to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, serve each other and the city, train leaders, and send church planting teams.

A PLACE TO WORSHIP

Once completed, our building will feature a 500-seat auditorium so we can gather as one unified church family. Corporate worship is a witness to the power of the gospel before a watching world. We’ll have room to welcome even more non-believers weekly!

A PLACE TO PROCLAIM

This building will be filled with faithful gospel proclamation, allowing us to be more significant presence for Christ in downtown Tempe. Our city desperately needs to hear of God’s love, forgiveness, and hope found in Jesus. As the only evangelical church with a building faithful to the gospel in downtown Tempe, this enhanced outpost will be a beacon of gospel hope.

A PLACE TO MAKE DISCIPLES

The mission of the church is to make disciples and help churches. Therefore, the building is designed with evangelism and discipleship in mind. As believers mature in a healthy church, they develop a passion for planting, revitalizing, and strengthening other churches.

A PLACE TO SERVE

We are committed not only to proclaiming gospel doctrine but also to being gospel people. What happens on stage is important only insofar as it equips believers to embody a culture of Christlikeness. More room allows more ministry to one another and those still in need of Jesus’s saving love.

A PLACE TO TRAIN

Deep in our DNA is a love for pastors, missionaries, and leaders from other churches. This is seen first by our pastoral residency program, which trains four future pastors every year by immersing them in church life without inundating them with responsibilities. Second, by our monthly pastor groups for churches across the Valley. Third, by our weekly leadership training, which teaches master-level courses in partnership with Phoenix Seminary. Finally, our preaching workshop and conference hosting equips of leaders and pastors annually.

A PLACE TO SEND

The local church is God’s mission strategy for spreading the gospel to every tribe, tongue, and nation. Therefore, we aim to see many gospel-centered, Bible-believing churches planted by equipping and sending brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. This building will allow us to send pastors with an entire team of believers to launch faithful new churches. We desire to create more room here to send there.
