A Bit of Backstory
Decades ago, a young community of faith purchased land and homes to relocate their growing church plant. These believers wisely chose a strategic location due to its proximity to a small but expanding university and built an auditorium.
Church on Mill has gathered there ever since. We reap the benefits of their generosity week in and week out. And now we have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps!
We are out of space. If we are to continue gospel ministry in downtown Tempe into the next generation, if we desire to worship together, and if we wish to send teams of members to plant and revitalize more churches, we need more Room to Send.
Why Build?
SATURATE - Downtown Tempe is a strategic thoroughfare. Not only is it home to the largest university in the United States, but also the location of many businesses and tens of thousands of people. It’s the perfect place for a faithful church to saturate the community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
SHARE - With more room for evangelism and discipleship, the dozens of nonbelieving young adults and internationals who attend collegiate and international ministries every week will continue to increase. Additionally, the capacity for our pastoral training events will grow by 200%.
SEND - By forming teams of pastors, missionaries, and launch team members who will be sent by Church on Mill, we will be able to better plant, revitalize, and strengthen churches elsewhere.
This webpage is devoted to sharing God’s work at Church on Mill, Christian Challenge, and Life Among the Nations, so that God’s people around the world appreciate the urgent need for our building initiative. Please pray!
Our Prayerful Plan
DOUBLE the seating capacity of the existing auditorium.
EXPAND the lobby and café area significantly for daily usability.
BUILD a new patio space, connected to the lobby with flexible options for ministry.
We understand that the growth God is giving Church on Mill is a responsibility that must be leveraged for the growth of other churches. Since Tempe is a transient city, as people come to know Jesus and grow in understanding God’s plan for the Church, we are able to send many leaders to help start or strengthen existing churches elsewhere. More space here will yield more equipped leaders to send there.
This expansion is Phase 1 of a larger plan to grow the church campus. In the future, we would like to add new buildings for family ministry, adult formation classrooms, administrative offices, and conference rooms. Expanding the auditorium is the most important and cost-effective first step in the transformation of our entire property.
